watercolor critique
1. Doing washes helped because it helped with building layers, especially on the trees. For the tree leaves I applied a wash of yellow, then some washes of different tonalities of orange, then the last wash I applied was with some red paint. Dry on dry helped because it gave a very opaque and bold effect. I utilized this technique to do the details on the trunks of the palm trees aswell as the plants. The dry on dry technique is very good to do the final details in. The use of the white crayon helped since it gave the painting texture. I used white crayon in the sky to avoid making it look bland. In my opinion, the white crayon provided texture.
2. very since it made the colors stand out and it made them more unique
3. I ultilized the principles including line, which is included In the tree trunks. I used the principle of shape to do the grass which I did using circular shapes. I also used texture in the sky and I created this texture with a white crayon.
4. color choice was important. The painting would’ve looked more bland without the palm trees being vibrant red. Also, having the tree tops be the vibrant red color made them pop more. Moreover, having the sky be a more duller color made the grass and the trees more lively.
5. the craftsmanship was produced by layering light washes. I espiecially did a lot of washed in the trees aswell as few in the sky to add texture. I also did a dry on dry technique to make the finishing details in the tree trunks aswell as the plants.
6. if i were to do something different is i would’ve included more texture in everything. I would've added more tonalities of green in the plants. I also would've added more light brown details in the tree trunks and a little bit in the tops of the trees.
7. i learned that having an underpainting betters your final painting; improved my development in art. The underpainting makes the colors more vibrant and lively. I also learned that the more layers/washes you use, the better your painting will become; this is because it gives the painting texture.

hunderwasser acrylic
1. I feel like the craftmenship is okay. I did a lot of layers so make the colors more opaque. In Hundwasser's painting he uses a lot of solid colors so I tried to do the same in my painting.
2. My work embodies the artists style because I used very opaque colors. I also used patterns which were included in the artist's painting. Hunderwassers work doesn't have dimensions and it has some overlapping too and I tried to do the same in my painting. The trees I did look similar to those of Hunderwassers and they also overlap one another.
3. I made the wall this more dull-like red in order for the water to look more lively. I also chose the duller red tonalities in order to make the face pop more. Using the light blue in the water also made the water pop more and I think it contrasted well with the darker blues and reds in the painting.
4. The focal point of this painting would be the face located near the center. To make it the focal point I made sure it stood out and to accomplish this I used a dull cover in the background of the face so it would make it pop out more. The bright oranges/yellows in the face also make it stand out more.
5. I used patterns in the water to liven it up a bit. I only put patterns in some of the water waves because if I put it in all of the waves it would look too busy. I also added a few patterns to the wall in the background to make it look more interesting and I did these patterns in white so the patterns would pop more.
6. I did this grayscale border. I decided to do it in that color because the painting already incorporated a lot of colors and I didn't want the painting to be too overcolorful. Moreover, i wanted the face to be the focal point of the painting and not the border which is another reason why i made the border the colors that it is.
7. I had some difficulties in the wall. Originally it was going to be all patterns but then i changed my mind because i thought if i used patterns all over the wall it would overpower the painting and make it look too busy. Furthermore, i never used glitter in any of my paintings and i think i might've used too much of it since i didn't know that it dried so opaque.

palette knife oil paint
i feel like the palette knife technique would work better for large objects and backgrounds as opposed to small objects and for adding small details. I think the background of this painting turned out okay; the palette knife gives the painting a nice texture.

Landscape critique
1. I wanted to make this painting simple to draw the attention onto the cherry blossoms. I wanted to make the complexity of this painting simple and easy and relaxing to view. At the end I added more white to the background to make the lines of the mountains cleaner to make this painting look neater.
2. For the color choices i wanted to use more bland colors and have the cherry blossoms be this vibrant color to allow them to stand out. By blanding the colors out it makes the painting easier to look at and it gave it a more calming aspect to it. Moreover by having the river be so blue it made the brown in the land appear darker which made a good contrast.
3. I created contrast by using light colors against darker colors. There is a heavy contrast between the river and the land, the trees and the land, as well as between the cherry blossom trees and the entire painting. By making the colors of the cherry blossoms so vibrant it made it stand out from the other aspects in the painting.
4. I applied textures to this painting by painting everything with a brush then going over certain aspects, ex the mountains and the cherry blossoms, with a palette knife to create texture. I applied the palette knife to the mountains to make them pop out more. Moreover, since the colors of the mountain blended in with the sky, using the palette knife to create that texture intensified the diferenciality between the sky and the mountains. I also used a palette knife to make the cherry blossoms in the tree pop out and give it a more 3D aspect. I put the highlights, or whites/lighter blues, in the midde of the river to display the highlights the sun gave the river.
5. I went over the edge of the land with a darker brown to incorporate depth in the painting.

Pet portrait reflection
I started off with a simple sketch and by color blocking the animal. Then I started drawing triangles to help create the fur and to make the layers of it visible and stand out. By doing this fur-creating process it made the fur look more realistic. The contrast is seen in the middle of the dog where the fur goes from being orange to it being white. The most astheic quality of this piece is the fur for it includes a variety of colors and of different intensities and gradients. I made sure to use a thin brush to do the fine details of the fur once i was done with the painting to make it look more realistic. I created depth by making the inside of the ears have a shadow from the hairs that were covering them. I should have used a thinner brush to do the whiskers for them to stand out less for they aren't a extremely visible part of a dog. I think I did a good job of not making the colors in the nose and eyes to dark and i achieved this by mixing in burnt sienna with the black to makes the black paint less intense. This is the first animal portrait I made and it came out better than expected; using acrylic rather than oil paint was a good choice since its easier to build up layers and with acrylic you don't have to wait for the paint to dry as long as you would if you used oil paint.

Fur practice
By building layers with the paint it made it more realistic. Moreover, using different shades/tonalities of a color added depth to the fur making it also more realistic. By using a thin brush at the end to add in single hairs to the fur made it look better and it gave it a neater finish.

bob Ross
this painting was quite hard and the tutorial was kinda hard to follow. I couldn’t achieve the same texture/lines Ross was able to do with my pallete knife but I tried.
